Lalamove and EY to Test Drone Deliveries in Hong Kong Government Sandbox

Hong Kong delivery company Lalamove and professional services firm EY announced on July 18, 2026, that they will test drone deliveries in a government regulatory sandbox project. South China Morning Post reported that the partnership will combine Lalamove’s logistics platform with EY’s services in planning, business modelling, risk advisory, governance, and tax and customs advisory.

The initiative uses drones sourced from Ningbo-based Yixin Smart Technology Company.

The drones are participating in the Hong Kong government’s regulatory sandbox project for low-altitude test flights. They can carry packages weighing up to 4.5 kg and cover distances of 12 km to 18 km. The Lalamove-EY collaboration is one of 38 pilot projects approved under the regulatory sandbox scheme.

The government has received 72 applications for the scheme as of July 18, 2026. “Our driver partners remain the irreplaceable backbone of Lalamove’s operations,” a Lalamove spokesman said.
