Lamar Jackson Expects More Explosive Ravens Offense Under Youngest NFL Play-Caller After 6-7 Season
Baltimore quarterback praised coordinator Declan Doyle after minicamp ended Wednesday. Jackson produced career-low yardage totals last year.
usatoday.comBaltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson said he expects a more explosive offense this season under new coordinator Declan Doyle after the team concluded its minicamp Wednesday in Owings Mills, Maryland. " He added that "the sky's the limit" with the type of coaching Doyle is bringing.
Jackson produced a 6-7 record as a starter in 2025, the first losing record of his career, and finished with 2,898 total yards, the fewest in his eight NFL seasons.
2 yards per game, its lowest mark since 2017, and the team missed the playoffs for the first time since 2021. Jackson has attended more voluntary offseason workouts than in past years to learn the new system and terminology. He said he wants to be detailed enough to keep defenses off balance.
Doyle, 30, is the NFL's youngest playcaller. During one minicamp drill, Jackson pitched the ball on a play that called for a bootleg; Doyle responded by playfully cursing at him. Jackson said he likes the coaching.
Jackson has won league MVP awards in his first season under each of the previous two coordinators. He earned the honor in 2019 with Greg Roman and again in 2023 with Todd Monken. Safety Kyle Hamilton said Jackson looks "like a two-time MVP" in Doyle's offense.
Hamilton noted that Jackson turns 30 next January.
