Lebanese President Urges U.S. Support After Israel Deal
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called on the United States to continue backing Lebanon in a message marking U.S. Independence Day. The appeal follows a U.S.-mediated framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun sent a congratulatory message to President Donald Trump on the occasion of the U.S. 250th Independence Day. " Aoun also expressed hope that Lebanon could "turn the page on wars ... The agreement calls for Hezbollah disarmament, a gradual Israeli withdrawal, and deployment of the Lebanese army to two pilot areas.
Hezbollah has rejected the deal, which does not include a timetable for Israeli withdrawal. Hezbollah began firing rockets at Israel on March 2 in response to the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, the death toll since March 2 has reached 4,303 killed and 12,202 wounded. On Saturday, an Israeli Apache helicopter fired five missiles toward the town of Majdal Zoun, and one person was injured in an Israeli strike on the village of al-Mansouri.
The Israeli military stated that its troops killed an armed fighter in the security zone near Majdal Zoun after identifying the individual operating inside the area.
