Lego Announces 12,060-Piece Sagrada Família Set Priced at $799.99, Its Largest Ever

Lego announced the release of its Architecture Sagrada Família set on June 4. The set contains 12,060 pieces and is the largest Lego set to date. The model depicts the Basílica de la Sagrada Família in Barcelona, Spain, a structure designed by Antoni Gaudí.

The announcement coincides with the centennial of Gaudí’s death on June 10, 1926. “Our goal was to honor Gaudí’s vision with the utmost respect, capturing the rhythm of the basilica’s construction, its extraordinary complexity and ambition, and translating that into an immersive building experience,” Lego Architecture Designer Rok Žgalin Kobe said in a news release.

99. The Sagrada Família set belongs to Lego’s Architecture collection, which reproduces real-world buildings in bricks. Earlier sets in the line include the Notre Dame cathedral with 4,383 pieces, the Statue of Liberty with 1,685 pieces and the Great Pyramid of Giza with 1,476 pieces.

The set is available for pre-order on the Lego website and goes on sale globally starting November 1. Gaudí led the Catalan Modernist movement and designed other Barcelona landmarks including Casa Batlló, Casa Milà and Park Güell. His work is noted for its organic forms and integration of color and texture.
