LEGO Mario Kart Luigi & Mach 8 Set 72050 Features 2,234 Pieces and Costs $179.99
The LEGO Mario Kart Luigi & Mach 8 set (72050) includes 2,234 pieces and measures 10 inches tall, 16 inches long, and 9 inches wide. It builds a model of Luigi in the Mach 8 kart from the Mario Kart series. The set requires an estimated four hours to assemble and is part of LEGO's ongoing Nintendo collaboration.
Forbes99 in the UK. The completed model stands 10 inches (25 cm) tall, 16 inches (41 cm) long, and 9 inches (23 cm) wide. Assembly is estimated to take four hours. The set contains 22 bags of pieces, divided as follows: bags 1-14 for the Mach 8 kart, bags 15-16 for Luigi's torso, bag 17 for both legs, bags 18-19 for individual arms, and bags 20-22 for Luigi's head.
Compared to the previous Mario & Standard Kart set (72037), this model is larger by 1 inch (3 cm) in height, over 1 inch (4 cm) in width, and 3 inches (9 cm) in length. 5 cents per piece.
Building the Mach 8 Kart Construction begins with the chassis, followed by the front axle using Technic elements in the second bag.
The instructions require attention due to potential complexity. After the first two bags, the scale of the kart becomes evident. By the third bag, builders assemble the steering pinion while handling multiple sections, which may require a large work surface.
The build is asymmetric, with additional pieces under the bodywork for the back-left wheel to support the flaming rear exhaust. Bags 5 through 10 cover the side sills, front wheel arches, front end with a large 'L' on the hood, and remaining back-end mechanical parts for the wheel-powered exhaust. The rear sides and shark fin, positioned behind Luigi, form a complex shape.
Bag 14 adds final details to the kart, including the rear booster with flames, wheels, and tires. Attaching the tires to the rims is challenging, and the wheels connect simply to the axles, which may cause them to bend inward under the model's weight.
The set includes a stand similar to the one in the previous Mario Kart set, but positioned one plate higher with slightly more restricted movement due to added elements.
The model features interactive components, such as moving flames and a functioning steering wheel. LEGO's partnership with Nintendo continues through these Mario-themed sets released in 2026. S. National Soccer Team Jersey (43033).
