espn.comLeicester City confirmed Russell Martin’s appointment as manager on the same day Wolves named César Peixoto as head coach to replace Rob Edwards. Martin, 40, signed a contract with Leicester until 2029. He joined eight months after a 123-day stint at Rangers ended.
Leicester were relegated to League One in the 2025-26 season after a points deduction. “I’m delighted to be here and excited to begin working with the players and staff,” Martin said. “This is a club with great history, strong support and high expectations.
Martin previously managed MK Dons, Swansea and Southampton and is known for possession-based football. ” Wolves finished bottom of the Premier League with 20 points under Edwards, who replaced Vítor Pereira in November and was sacked last week. Peixoto joined from Gil Vicente, where the team finished sixth in the Primeira Liga in 2025-26.
Four of the past seven Wolves managers have been from Portugal. “I’m proud to be here at this big, historic club in England,” Peixoto said. ” Both clubs were relegated last season and moved quickly to appoint new leadership.
