Lila Raicek Releases Debut Novel The Plunge Following Personal and Professional Projects

Lila Raicek has released her debut novel, The Plunge. The book is written from a single character's perspective and focuses on psychological and emotional experiences. Raicek began writing it in 2021 after ending her engagement to Amazon executive Roy Price, who faced sexual harassment allegations from a TV producer.

The novel's protagonist, Liv, is a Hollywood writer who leaves Los Angeles following her fiancé's dismissal from his job and subsequent death in a car accident shortly before their wedding. Liv returns to Manhattan and becomes involved in a love triangle set in locations including the Hamptons and Lake Como. The narrative depicts her path to reinvention amid elements of hedonism and glamour.

Raicek explained that the novel emerged from a period of personal loss and reflection on starting over. She stated that the story examines a character navigating deeper challenges to rediscover herself. The book maintains a nonlinear structure, which Raicek noted aligns with themes in her recent works.

Theater and Adaptation Projects Raicek's play My Master Builder premiered at Wyndham’s Theatre in London's West End.

The production featured Kate Fleetwood, Elizabeth Debicki, and Ewan McGregor in his first stage role in over a decade. Raicek is adapting her play Vertebrae into a television series titled Night Float, starring Nina Dobrev.

She is also developing a new play, Fire Season, for Broadway, with Billy Crudup and Amanda Seyfried reading the script. These projects follow the success of My Master Builder, which sold out and received positive reviews. Raicek described writing the play in a six-month period after receiving a commission.

She highlighted the audience interaction during performances, including reactions of surprise and emotion. The play explored dynamics from an outsider's perspective in unfamiliar settings.
