NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported on Wednesday that Stafford is due $40 million during the 2026 season and holds a guaranteed roster bonus scheduled for March 2027. Pelissero stated that Stafford's $45 million base salary in 2027 and a $5 million roster bonus in March 2028 become fully guaranteed if he remains on the roster on the third day of the 2027 league year.
The contract includes a "dummy" year in 2029 with a $100 million base salary that would vest if Stafford is on the team on the tenth day of the 2028 league year. Stafford can earn up to $5 million in incentives each of the next two seasons, split evenly between an NFC championship win and a Super Bowl win, each requiring 70 percent playtime.
In total, Stafford is due $45 million for 2026 and $50 million for 2027, with a chance to reach $105 million including incentives over two seasons.
Stafford completed the prior season leading the NFL with 4,707 passing yards, recording a career-high 46 passing touchdowns and eight interceptions.
