A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan on Saturday. The epicenter was located in that region according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department. Tremors were felt in Islamabad as well as in Punjab province, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

District administrations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were placed on alert.
