Greater Manchester Police and Counter Terrorism Policing North West arrested a 49-year-old man on the evening of May 26 at an address on St James’ Road in Higher Broughton, Salford. The man is being held on suspicion of failing to disclose information regarding terrorist activity, an offence under Section 38B of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Officers said the suspected offence relates directly to the attack carried out on October 2, 2025.

Jihad Al-Shamie, 35, drove a Kia Picanto into pedestrians at the synagogue gates before entering the building and stabbing worshippers. He was shot dead by police at the scene. The attack killed Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz and left three other men with serious injuries. Al-Shamie had phoned 999 during the incident and declared allegiance to Islamic State.
