Man Fatally Stabs Girlfriend in Brooklyn Apartment

A 41-year-old woman died after being stabbed multiple times and having her throat slashed inside a Brooklyn apartment early Sunday morning. m. Officers heard a woman screaming for help from a nearby townhouse before entering the building.

Responding officers could not gain entry through the front door and instead climbed through a back window. Inside the living room they found the victim on the floor with multiple stab wounds and a slashed throat. The suspect, described by sources as the victim's boyfriend, was sitting calmly on a sofa when police entered.

He was taken into custody but had not been charged as of Sunday evening. EMS transported the woman to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition, where she later died.

Said the suspect had at least 20 prior arrests, including charges for assault, robberies, and burglaries.
