Chase Matthew Griffin was sentenced to nine years in federal prison and ordered to pay $307,386 in restitution in Los Angeles federal court on Thursday. Griffin, 26, pleaded guilty on March 5 to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud. He has remained in federal custody since September 2025.
com reported. Griffin recruited participants through Instagram accounts with the handles Treytimes3 and Treytimes3_. Posts on those accounts showed him holding stacks of cash and guns, standing in front of ATMs, and holding ATM receipts.
In December 2023, three checks totaling approximately $85,000 were stolen from a USPS collection box in Tarzana and deposited into JPMorgan Chase accounts belonging to accomplices. Counterfeit versions of checks for $22,487 and $29,081 were created with matching details but different payees.
In late 2023, Griffin and a cooperating witness deposited three fraudulent checks worth $199,097.27 into another JPMorgan Chase account.
Griffin was arrested on July 16, 2025, during a traffic stop in Conyers, Georgia, where authorities found approximately 303 grams of marijuana, a scale, and a firearm. He was released after that stop and later returned to custody. An investigation into his co-conspirators remains ongoing.
