A maritime drone self-detonated in the Civil Port of Constanța, Romania, on June 5. m. local time. The Romanian Defence Ministry said the device was discovered near the headquarters of the Romanian Agency for Saving Human Life at Sea.

The ministry stated that the maritime drone was stopped by anti-pollution barriers placed on the water before it detonated. No casualties resulted from the detonation. The ministry described the device as of the type used in the war in Ukraine.

The incident occurred on Friday morning in the civil port on the Black Sea coast. The ministry issued its statement the same day. No confirmation has been given on the drone’s origin or ownership.
