Max Whitlock will miss the 2026 Commonwealth Games after injuring his hand in training. The Independent reported that the 33-year-old gymnast announced the withdrawal on Instagram on Monday and stated he will not recover in time despite his efforts.
Whitlock, a pommel horse specialist and six-time Olympic medallist, has won 10 medals at the Commonwealth Games in 2010, 2014 and 2018, four of them gold.
The Games begin July 23 in Glasgow. “I’m incredibly disappointed to have to say that I have no choice but to withdraw from the Commonwealth Games,” Whitlock wrote. ” “Unfortunately, I picked up an injury to my hand in training and, despite doing everything possible to give myself the best chance of competing, won’t be able to recover in time,” he added.
