T-Mobile Home Run Derby Opens at Citizens Bank Park With New Format

The 2026 T-Mobile Home Run Derby begins at 8 p.m. ET on Monday at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Eight players will compete for a $1 million first-place prize under a new format that eliminates timers and outs.

Each participant receives 20 swings in the first round and 15 swings in the semifinals and final. A player on the final swing of any round may continue until failing to hit a home run. Tiebreakers use home run distance in round one and three-swing swing-offs in later rounds.

There is no bonus round or first-round bracket. The field includes Munetaka Murakami of the Chicago White Sox, Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies, Jordan Walker of the St. Louis Cardinals, Willson Contreras of the Boston Red Sox, Jac Caglianone of the Kansas City Royals, Ben Rice of the New York Yankees, and Junior Caminero of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Murakami, 26, has 20 home runs and returns from a strained hamstring for his first All-Star Game. Schwarber, 33, has 32 home runs and competes in his home park for his third Derby appearance. Harper, 33, has 20 home runs and won the event in 2018.

Walker, 24, has 22 home runs and 74 RBIs in his first Derby. Contreras, 34, has 20 home runs and participates after a five-game suspension. Caglianone, 23, has 15 home runs as a 2024 first-round pick.

Rice, 27, has 29 home runs while playing first base and designated hitter. Caminero, 23, has 28 home runs, hit 10 in June and five in July, and finished second in the 2025 Derby. The runner-up receives $780,000.

There is a $25,000 bonus for the longest home run. The event opens All-Star Week ahead of the July 14 All-Star Game and the August 3 trade deadline.
