McIlroy Says PGA Championship Setup Has Bunched Leaderboard

Rory McIlroy said the PGA Championship setup at Aronimink Golf Club has produced a bunched leaderboard. The Northern Irishman called the arrangement a sign of a not great setup. He noted that it has been easy to make pars and hard to make birdies. McIlroy added that the golf course itself is good and that the pins and wind contributed to the difficulty.

McIlroy shot a bogey-free 67 in the second round.

He recorded three birdies and moved to one-over-par for the tournament. Only eight shots separate the lead from the cut line at four-over-par. That margin equals the smallest in PGA Championship history. McIlroy is scheduled to tee off at 4pm BST on Saturday alongside three-time PGA Championship winner Brooks Koepka.

McIlroy said the pace of play was slow during his round.

He attributed part of the delay to a lost ball incident on the course. He noted that afternoon tee times on the first two days of major championships often run long.
