The Media Research Center filed an 18-page letter with the FCC arguing that ABC's daytime program fails to meet standards for a bona fide news interview show. The filing comes amid an agency investigation into equal-time rules.
azernews.azThe Media Research Center submitted an 18-page letter to FCC division chief Maria Mullarkey challenging ABC's petition to classify "The View" as a bona fide news interview program exempt from equal-time requirements. MRC President David Bozell signed the letter, which states the group will submit 2,473 separate pieces of evidence as exhibits.
Fox News reported that the letter argues the program operates as a partisan political effort rather than one driven by newsworthiness.
Bozell wrote that the MRC has published eight studies documenting how the show promotes Democratic candidates and policies while limiting appearances by opposing voices. The filing follows an FCC investigation into ABC's "The View" that began earlier this year after Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico appeared on the program.
Disney launched an on-air campaign on Monday urging viewers to support the show against the agency's actions.
Vice President JD Vance gave a lengthy interview on the program last week. None of the show's six hosts supported Donald Trump in the 2024 election, including Alyssa Farah Griffin, identified as its token conservative host who previously worked in the first Trump administration. The program has aired for nearly 30 years.
ABC News did not immediately respond to a request for comment, Fox News Digital reported.
