Meta Adds AI Mode to Facebook Search Using Public Posts
Meta introduced an AI Mode option in Facebook search that generates answers from publicly posted content across its platforms. The feature is part of a broader rollout of new AI tools on the company's apps.
WiredMeta added an AI Mode search option to Facebook that draws on publicly posted content to generate answers instead of returning only links. The option appears alongside existing search modes such as People and Marketplace. Users can ask follow-up questions after receiving the AI-generated results.
Meta is also releasing photo presets that place sports jerseys on fans and collage template suggestions. The company said the underlying Muse Spark AI model will later support features that cite recommendations and content shared on Instagram, Facebook, and Threads.
The system uses publicly available posts from Meta's platforms to ground its responses. Similar approaches have been used by other services that incorporate discussion threads into search summaries.
