Meta is building an experimental prediction markets app called Arena. Mark Zuckerberg directed the project, which aims to rival Polymarket and Kalshi. The app may start with a points system before considering real currency.
New York PostMeta is developing an experimental prediction markets app internally named Arena. Mark Zuckerberg directed a team inside the company to build the app, which insiders described as a top priority for the chief executive and Meta. The app is planned to operate independently of Facebook and Instagram while expanding by leveraging those platforms' existing user bases.
It is intended to compete with Polymarket and Kalshi, both of which have operated for more than five years. The app will likely use a video-game-like points system rather than real money, though company insiders said Meta has not ruled out eventual use of real currency. Meta previously operated a prediction market app named Forecast.
The service launched in 2020 and shut down in 2022.
