Democratic Michigan state Sen. Mallory McMorrow announced on July 5, 2026, that she was suspending her campaign for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. @DailyCaller reported the announcement, which McMorrow posted on X the same day.

"Today, I’m announcing that I am suspending my campaign for United States Senate. And I’m doing it with a deep, deep sense of gratitude," McMorrow stated. She added thanks to volunteers, donors who gave without corporate PAC funds, and staff who built the team from the start.
A poll released June 16, 2026, by Steve Mitchell of Mitchell Research & Communications placed McMorrow’s support at 6 percent. McMorrow did not immediately endorse either remaining Democratic candidate, Rep. Haley Stevens or Dr.
Abdul El-Sayed. El-Sayed posted on X on July 5 thanking McMorrow and her supporters. Stevens issued a statement on X the same day expressing similar thanks and looking forward to future work together.
McMorrow had deleted thousands of X posts critical of Michigan after an April 2025 New York Post report. She rose to national attention in 2022 following a Michigan Senate floor speech opposing Republican positions on several social issues. McMorrow also faced allegations of failing to properly report over $500,000 in campaign spending.
An X account linked to former Rep. Mike Rogers posted a 52-second video on July 5 marking the end of McMorrow’s campaign. The Michigan Republican Party stated on July 5 that the Democratic primary had shifted from a three-car pileup to a head-on collision between the two remaining candidates.
