Microsoft released a Windows 11 update on July 14, 2026, as part of its regular Patch Tuesday cycle. The Verge reported that the update, identified as build KB5101650, introduces the ability to pause updates for up to 35 days and to repeatedly extend that deadline. The pause feature had previously been tested with Windows Insiders earlier in 2026.
The Verge reported that the same update patches multiple security issues. Microsoft stated it plans to use AI to identify vulnerabilities in future Windows releases. The update also adds several features that Microsoft previewed in an optional June 2026 update for the same build.
These include a Point-in-time restore option that returns a PC along with its apps, settings, and files to a previous state. Additional changes cover customization options for Widgets, a more precise magnification tool, and improved Bluetooth device stability.
The Verge reported that the release forms part of Microsoft’s effort to address user complaints and improve performance through targeted updates.
