Midfielder joins Arsenal on permanent deal after Bayern Munich stint

England midfielder Georgia Stanway has joined Arsenal on a permanent deal after leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season. Stanway said the move gives her the chance to win trophies and develop further as a player. She described Arsenal as a massive club that is advancing the women's game.

Career background Stanway began her career at Blackburn before moving to Manchester City in 2015. During seven seasons there she recorded 186 appearances and 67 goals, securing one Women's Super League title and six domestic cups. She spent the next four years at Bayern Munich, appearing 128 times and collecting eight trophies in the Frauen-Bundesliga.

International record The 27-year-old has earned 93 caps for England and took part in the team's European Championship victories in 2022 and 2025. Arsenal head coach Renée Slegers said Stanway will add experience and a winning mentality to the midfield. Director of women's football Clare Wheatley noted the player's leadership and competitive qualities.
