Minnesota Lynx hold off New York Liberty comeback to win 90-85
The Lynx held off a third-quarter rally to improve to 17-6. The Liberty fell to 13-10 and sit in seventh place.

The Minnesota Lynx defeated the New York Liberty 90-85 on July 11 at Target Center in Minneapolis. nypost.com reported that the Lynx led by 15 points with less than five minutes left in the third quarter before the Liberty mounted a comeback. Sabrina Ionescu scored 25 points for the Liberty, including 19 in the third quarter on 7-for-10 shooting.
The Liberty went on a 21-5 run to close the period and took a one-point lead. Kayla McBride scored 25 points for the Lynx, with 14 of them in the final 10 minutes. Olivia Miles finished with 23 points, five rebounds and four assists for Minnesota and sealed the win with two free throws.
The Liberty played without Leonie Fiebich, who sat out with left foot soreness, and Satou Sabally, who remained in concussion protocol. Napheesa Collier has not yet made her season debut for the Lynx. Han Xu received her first career technical foul for bouncing the ball in frustration.
Liberty coach Chris DeMarco also drew a technical foul for arguing with referees. The Liberty are now 5-5 in clutch situations. New York center Jonquel Jones said the team must stop falling into large deficits.
“We just have to stop digging ourselves these very big, very deep holes that we have to get out of,” Jones said.
