Minnesota Timberwolves Release New Logo, Uniforms and Courts After Second-Round Playoff Exit
The team introduced updated designs on June 7 that combine elements from multiple eras of franchise history with current branding.
foxnews.comThe Minnesota Timberwolves unveiled new logo, uniform and court designs on June 7. The team described the changes as a blend of familiar pieces of franchise history with the swagger, confidence and energy of the team leading the franchise today. Minnesota's association and icon uniforms feature white, blue and green colors.
The palette matches the one the team used in its inaugural 1989-90 season. The trim on both uniforms is the classic three-stripe from the original uniforms, with thick and thin blue and green lines inspired by the city's natural palette. The numbers and Wolves chest mark are inspired by wolf fangs.
The statement uniform returns the pine tree-era black look. It differs from the classic uniforms used last season, which represented the team's threads from 1998 to 2008. On the statement version, Wolves appears in glowing blue and green outlines instead of Timberwolves in white and black.
The pine trees return as trim with a glowing blue edge inspired by the 10,000-plus lakes across Minnesota. The new logo includes the howling wolf in blue and green colors, similar to the design used from 1990 to 1996. The association uniforms feature the Old Shep logo on the shorts.
All three uniforms include a custom Tree-M monogram on the belt buckle and a five-tree lineup above every jock tag, which the Timberwolves said is a subtle nod to the starting five. The Timberwolves will have two new home courts, one statement design and one core design. Franchise legend Kevin Garnett participated in the reveal by posing in each of the new uniforms.
"This franchise means something different to every generation of fans," Timberwolves & Lynx CEO Matt Caldwell said in a news release. "We wanted this new look to reflect the pieces of Timberwolves basketball fans have always connected with, while also feeling true to the team and culture surrounding this franchise today.
