ESPNMajor League Baseball warned three San Francisco Giants pitchers on Monday after they wrote Bible verses on rainbow-colored caps issued for the team's June 13 Pride Night game against the Chicago Cubs. The caps featured the San Francisco Giants franchise logo in rainbow colors. The three pitchers appeared in Friday's game wearing the altered caps.
MLB chief communications officer Pat Courtney said Monday that the writing on the cap violates league rules. “The writing on the cap violates our rules, and consistent with normal practice, we have warned the players about future violations,” Courtney stated. Landen Roupp was one of the three pitchers.
MLB decried the use of personal writings on any team-issued Pride Night hats after the Giants incident.
