Mohamed Salah to Leave Liverpool After Nine Seasons
Mohamed Salah will depart Liverpool at the end of the current season after scoring 257 goals for the club. The Egyptian forward joined from Roma in 2017 and leaves on a free transfer.
espn.co.ukMohamed Salah will play his final match for Liverpool on Sunday when the team hosts Brentford. The 33-year-old forward joined the club from Roma in 2017 for £34 million. Salah has scored 257 goals and recorded 119 assists in 35,326 minutes for Liverpool. Only Ian Rush with 346 goals and Roger Hunt with 285 goals have scored more for the club.
Klopp, who managed Liverpool when Salah arrived, said Salah set new standards for professional players in training and recovery. Ian Rush stated that Salah knew what was required to become a Liverpool legend. Salah scored 193 Premier League goals, more than any overseas player in the competition's history.
He formed an attacking line with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino that won multiple trophies between 2017 and 2022.
Salah agreed to end his contract a year early, allowing him to leave as a free agent this summer. His next club has not been announced. Salah's departure follows a season in which he had limited playing time under head coach Arne Slot. The club accepted the early termination after the player expressed dissatisfaction with his role.
