Mother of Two Missing Utah Boys Appeals for Their Return After Custody Exchange
Lizzie Tomich reported that her sons, ages 1 and 10 months, were not returned after a scheduled custody exchange on May 16. Police issued an Amber Alert after finding the father’s home vacant and learning he had quit his job and sold possessions.
New York PostLizzie Tomich posted a video on social media asking the public to share information about her two missing sons. The boys, identified as 1-year-old Will Richman and 10-month-old Wesley Richman, were last seen on May 16 after a custody exchange in Sheldon, Washington.
Tomich co-parents the children with Dane Stephen Richman, 46, who lives in Utah. She said Richman collected the boys for a routine visit but did not return them a week later. She stated that Richman initially told her they were camping.
Tomich said she arrived early at a planned meeting location on May 23 and received no response from Richman. She reported that police conducted a welfare check at his Saratoga Springs home and found the residence vacant with items being removed. Authorities issued an Amber Alert stating concern for the children’s safety.
The alert noted that Richman had been described as seriously depressed, had sold possessions, faced financial stress, and abandoned his home.
Tomich’s family lawyer, Brittany Skinner, stated that Richman had quit his job and sold almost all of his possessions before leaving with the children. Police suspect Richman may have been in Carlsbad, California, on May 18 and crossed into Mexico the next day.
Richman has been charged with custodial interference, a third-degree felony. He is believed to be driving a black Toyota Camry with Utah license plate A561HL, though authorities said the vehicle may have a temporary tag.
