Thousands of mourners gathered for a second consecutive day at Tehran’s Mosalla Mosque to pay respects during funeral ceremonies for Iran’s former supreme leader. Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf met with the head of Hamas’s advisory Shura Council on the sidelines of the ceremonies.
Iranian state media IRNA reported that Ghalibaf stated diplomacy should preserve military gains and must be backed by defence capabilities.
Mourners displayed red banners and flags bearing slogans such as “Ya Latharat al-Hussein” and “Ya Latharat al-Khamenei.” The flags represent a Shia symbol associated with calls for retribution.
A four-month-old Palestinian boy died after Israeli forces blocked his medical transfer at a checkpoint near Deir Ammar, west of Ramallah, according to Wafa news agency citing local official Laila Ghannam. Two people were killed in an Israeli drone attack east of Gaza City.
The death toll from Israeli attacks in Lebanon since March 2 reached at least 4,304 killed and 12,203 wounded, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said. Israeli army gunfire wounded a Palestinian in the Qalandia refugee camp north of Jerusalem, Wafa reported.
