Naomi Osaka will face Aryna Sabalenka in the fourth round of the 2026 French Open after both players advanced from the third round on May 30. Osaka defeated Iva Jovic 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 6-4 in nearly three hours. The 16th seed reached the fourth round at the French Open for the first time in her career after three victories that included two three-set matches.

Sabalenka defeated Daria Kasatkina 6-0, 7-5 and has now won three consecutive matches without conceding a set at Roland Garros. She defeated Osaka on clay in Madrid in April 2026.

Sabalenka holds two victories over Osaka since that match. Osaka wore a metallic gold bomber jacket and sequined gold dress with a long train for her walk-on. She said the outfits are planned a year and a half in advance and require multiple fittings.

"I feel like I played a pretty good match in Madrid. I think I just dipped in the second and third set. Hopefully just keep the consistency and keep trying to be aggressive. Whatever happens, happens," Osaka said on May 30, 2026.

Diane Parry defeated Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (10-3) to reach the fourth round and became the last French player remaining in the women’s singles draw. Parry thanked the crowd for the atmosphere on Court Philippe Chatrier after the match. Tournament officials have faced criticism for not scheduling women’s matches in the evening session on Court Philippe Chatrier since 2023.

Osaka said she is accustomed to night matches at other events but does not associate the French Open with them.
