National Audit Office Runs Six-Week Paid Diversity Internship Open Only to Women, Lower Socio-Economic Applicants and Those of Black Heritage

The National Audit Office is running a six-week diversity internship open only to women, applicants from lower socio-economic backgrounds, and those with black heritage. White middle-class men are excluded from the program, which pays a pro-rated salary of £25,089 per year or £27,000 for the London placement.

The internship runs from June 15 until July 24 and targets students in their penultimate year who want careers in accounting.

Participants will work with colleagues, expand professional networks, shadow auditors, conduct research and fieldwork for audits, and attend training on government, assurance, and Parliament. The National Audit Office requested a budget of £111 million for 2025/2026. The body examines spending by Whitehall departments, agencies, the NHS, and the BBC.
