Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton said he returned a $400,000 Rolls-Royce SUV after about one month because the monthly lease payment became difficult to manage. He stated he is not a car enthusiast and has tried to handle his finances responsibly after signing a five-year contract extension worth up to $260 million in 2023.
"Man, I got tired of seeing that lease payment come across my bank statement," Haliburton said on the "It Is What It Is" podcast. "I got rid of it like a month ago. I said, 'Man, I'm tired of this.'" Haliburton said he has tried to live correctly for the most part even with that purchase.
The conversation also covered Haliburton's recovery from a torn right Achilles tendon during Indiana's playoff run last June. He described the difficulty of needing help with daily tasks after being one game away from an NBA championship. Haliburton said watching basketball became difficult during recovery because it reminded him he could not play.
He added that a longer offseason and more recovery time should help the team for the 2026-27 season. "I think we're going to be one of the best teams in the East competing for a championship to be honest," Haliburton said.
