NBC News Poll Finds Trump Approval at 39% and Near-Tie on Congressional Control
A new NBC News poll released June 14 found President Donald Trump's approval rating at a second-term low of 39%. The survey also showed Democrats leading Republicans 49% to 44% in preference for control of Congress ahead of the November midterms.

The poll was conducted from May 29 to June 7 and surveyed 2,400 registered voters. It carried a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points and was sponsored by More Perfect, a nonpartisan nonprofit focused on democracy. Among registered voters, 49% said they want Democrats to take control of Congress in the November midterms.
Forty-four percent said they prefer Republican control, while 7% remained unsure. Republicans currently hold slim majorities in both the House and Senate. The midterms are scheduled for November 2026.
A separate Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted June 3-8 found Trump's approval rating among rural Americans at 50%. That figure stood at 60% in a February 2025 Reuters/Ipsos survey taken the month after Trump began his second term.
