The programs follow a monthlong break and precede training camps scheduled to begin in late July. Two teams completed mandatory minicamps during the first week of June. The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams canceled their minicamps entirely.
The Bears' quarterback said his comfort level in the offense has increased compared with last year. He described last season as feeling like he was "drowning trying to breathe" and said this year allows the team to build on prior work from an earlier stage.
The team's defensive end said he expects extensive live tackling periods and long drives during training camp. The head coach said players must make deposits through hard work and cannot cut corners to win on Sundays.
The team's two quarterbacks split first-team repetitions on the final day of mandatory minicamp. The head coach said he will continue splitting repetitions through training camp and indicated both players have earned the chance to compete once pads are added.
The coach said the situation would feel different if he did not believe both quarterbacks had progressed to the point where either could start and play winning football.
