NRSC Releases Ad Criticizing Ossoff's Immigration Votes Amid GOP Push for $70 Billion Enforcement Funding
The National Republican Senatorial Committee released a 30-second digital ad criticizing Sen. Jon Ossoff's votes on immigration, linking them to President Trump's deportation agenda. The ad coincides with GOP plans to pass a $70 billion immigration enforcement bill via budget reconciliation. Ossoff supported the Laken Riley Act but opposed other border security measures.

Jon Ossoff's immigration voting record, Washington Examiner reported. Ossoff, a Democrat from Georgia seeking a second term in the November 2026 election, faces criticism for his opposition to President Donald Trump's deportation agenda.
The ad, first seen by the Washington Examiner, accuses Ossoff of enabling dangerous immigration policies in the battleground state. 'Jon Ossoff’s open border policies let murderers and rapists onto Georgia streets,' the ad states. S.
Capitol flanked by former Vice President Kamala Harris and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. On-screen AI disclosures are not included in the ad. The NRSC has increasingly used such artificial intelligence in its spots criticizing Democrats, including deepfake videos of other candidates narrating their own past quotes.
In this case, the technology portrays Ossoff alongside figures associated with Democratic immigration stances, amplifying the ad's message without explicit labeling. The ad's release comes as congressional Republicans plan to advance a stand-alone immigration funding bill using budget reconciliation to bypass a filibuster.
They will work to secure $70 billion for federal immigration enforcement over the next several years through this party-line process.
Democrats oppose the $70 billion immigration enforcement funding effort. Ossoff supported the Laken Riley Act, a federal law passed under President Trump. The law, named after 22-year-old Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, who was killed by a Venezuelan illegal immigrant, requires the detention of illegal immigrants charged or convicted of theft-related offenses until deportation.
Despite this support, the NRSC connects Ossoff to Riley's murder for opposing other policies or funding tied to Trump's deportation agenda. 'Laken Riley’s murder is the direct result of Jon Ossoff and Kamala Harris’ open-border policies,' NRSC Regional press secretary Nick Puglia said in a statement.
Puglia's comment underscores the ad's focus on linking Ossoff's votes to specific crimes in Georgia.
The Ossoff campaign did not respond to a request for comment. President Trump has not made an endorsement in the Georgia Senate race. The contest features a messy GOP primary with contenders including Rep.
Mike Collins, Rep. Buddy Carter, and former football coach Derek Dooley. Ossoff remains the Democratic Party’s most vulnerable incumbent this November, according to the Washington Examiner.
