Nvidia Releases Rubin Data Center Design Using Full Liquid Cooling

Nvidia released a reference design for a fully liquid-cooled data center built around its Rubin-generation chips. The Verge reported the announcement on June 22, 2026. The system uses 100 percent liquid cooling and permits AI servers to operate at temperatures as high as 113 degrees Fahrenheit.

Heat is captured directly at the chip and moved through liquid loops that run at higher temperatures, allowing outdoor dry coolers to reject heat for much of the year. Nvidia head of sustainability Josh Parker stated that the approach reduces water use from roughly 2.6 million gallons per megawatt per year in conventional systems to near zero.

The Verge reported that Nvidia claims every cloud provider and data center operator building for Rubin is adopting the liquid-cooling transition.

Amazon has separately highlighted efficiency gains from higher heat tolerances in its mostly air-cooled facilities.
