Ohtani Collects Two RBIs as Dodgers Beat Yankees 8-2
Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-5 with two RBIs in the Dodgers' 8-2 win over the Yankees on Sunday. His left knee injury will keep him off the mound for the foreseeable future but left his batting unaffected.

Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-5 with two RBIs in the Dodgers' 8-2 win over the Yankees on Sunday afternoon. The game was the first of a doubleheader rescheduled after a Saturday night rainout at Yankee Stadium. Ohtani opened the scoring with an RBI double in the third inning, a 111 mph line drive that bounced off the right-field wall after Tommy Edman singled.
He scored later in the frame on Freddie Freeman's RBI single. In the fifth he fouled a pitch off his left knee and ran gingerly back to the dugout, but he stayed in the game and added an RBI single in the eighth for his 60th of the season. Manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani will serve as designated hitter in the nightcap.
"It looked like he was a little ginger, but the ensuing at-bats he felt good," Roberts said. " Yoshinobu Yamamoto threw the Dodgers' first regular-season complete game of 2026, allowing four hits and striking out seven on 102 pitches. He improved to 10-6 with a 2.78 ERA.
Cam Schlittler was removed after five innings after allowing three runs despite striking out eight. The Dodgers added five runs in the eighth to seal the series-clinching victory.
