The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 12-1 on Sunday at Dodger Stadium. The game took place after haze from a nearby warehouse fire cleared before the first pitch. Dodgers starter Emmet Sheehan allowed eight hits and six earned runs over 3 1/3 innings. He walked three batters and struck out four before manager Dave Roberts removed him in the fourth inning.
Bullpen and offense Five Dodgers relievers gave up six additional runs.
The team recorded five hits against Baltimore starter Brandon Young and two relievers. Infielder Miguel Rojas pitched a perfect ninth inning on seven pitches and received a standing ovation.
Manager comments "Execution was really bad," Sheehan said after the game. " Roberts said the offense took hittable strikes and chased spin, adding that the approach produced passivity at the wrong times. The team has now lost consecutive games for the first time since May 12.
The Dodgers improved to 49-29 and remain nine games ahead in their division. They open a nine-game road trip Monday in Minneapolis with left-hander Eric Lauer scheduled to start.
