Oura Ring 5 Launches Smaller and Lighter but Drops Four Sizes, Raises Some Prices to $499 and Delays New Health Features Until 2026
Oura launched the Ring 5, a redesigned smart ring that measures 6.09 mm wide and 2.28 mm thick. The device weighs as little as 2 grams and offers six to nine days of battery life.
cnet.comOura introduced the Ring 5, a smart ring the company describes as the world’s smallest. 88 mm. 2 grams.
TechCrunch reporter Aisha Malik tested a Gold-finish unit for five days and reported that the smaller dimensions made the ring noticeably lighter and easier to forget during daily wear. The Ring 5 is available in sizes 6 through 13, a narrower range than the Ring 4’s sizes 4 through 15.
Oura said it focused on the most popular sizes because of manufacturing challenges with smaller rings and is monitoring demand for the discontinued sizes.
Six finishes are offered: Gold, Deep Rose, Silver, Brushed Silver, Black, and Stealth. The Gold, Stealth, and Deep Rose finishes cost $499; the standard finishes start at $399. Battery life ranges from six to nine days, an increase from the Ring 4’s five-to-eight-day range.
Malik’s test unit arrived at 50 percent charge, reached 75 percent after about 30 minutes on the charger, and remained at roughly 25 percent after five days of continuous wear. Oura said the Ring 5 uses a new physical vapor deposition coating process that improves scratch resistance. Malik noted that a visible mark from contact with a rusty chain cleaned off with a cloth.
Two software features, Blood Pressure Signals and Nighttime Breathing, are scheduled to launch later in June 2026 and will also be available on the Oura Ring Gen3 and later models. Oura said users had requested a thinner and more compact design, and the company developed the Ring 5 in response to that feedback and to competition from lighter, subscription-free rivals.
