Pakistan Buys Second Spot LNG Cargo From TotalEnergies at $17.37 per mmBtu
Pakistan purchased a liquefied natural gas cargo from TotalEnergies for mid-July delivery. The transaction follows a similar purchase from BP the prior week amid sharply reduced Qatari supplies.

Pakistan purchased a spot-market LNG cargo from TotalEnergies at $17.37 per million British thermal units for delivery between July 10 and July 11. OilPrice.com reported the purchase as the country's second such transaction in as many weeks. The price exceeds the previous week's purchase from BP, which Pakistan LNG Ltd.
Acquired at $16.74 per mmBtu. Both deals carried a premium of roughly $1 above the Asian spot market average. Pakistan had depended on term LNG supplies from Qatar under long-term agreements for years.
Qatari flows to the country fell from nearly 800,000 tons in January 2026 to less than 50,000 tons by April 2026, according to Bloomberg data cited by OilPrice.com. Cargoes from Mozambique and Oman have supplemented supply at volumes below pre-disruption Qatari levels. Pakistan also took delivery of a U.S.
LNG cargo in May 2026 priced at $18.40 per mmBtu. The two recent spot purchases indicate persistent tightness in available supply while showing Pakistan's continued need for prompt LNG deliveries despite elevated prices.
