Palm Beach County Commissioners Approve Trump Airport Naming and Licensing Agreement
Palm Beach County approved a licensing agreement yesterday with the Trump family business to enable the renaming of Palm Beach International Airport after President Trump. The agreement bars profits from on-site branded merchandise while granting the family control over biographical content and vendor selection. The new name takes effect July 1.

Palm Beach County commissioners voted to rename Palm Beach International Airport after President Trump. The approval required a licensing agreement with the Trump family business for use of the name.
The agreement prevents the Trump family from profiting on branded merchandise sold at the airport itself. It grants the family control over biographical material presented at the airport and requires the airport to select vendors from a Trump-approved list. The new name takes effect July 1.
According to the New York Times, logo options for the renamed airport include an eagle that resembles the presidential seal. The agreement is silent on merchandise sold outside the airport.
A trademark lawyer described the agreement as extremely unusual. Airports named after Presidents Kennedy and Reagan did not require similar agreements with those presidents’ families.
The Kennedy Center is now the Trump-Kennedy Center. New Navy vessels are the Trump class. Legislation has been introduced to rename Dulles International Airport as Donald J. Trump International Airport.
