Papermark co-founder Marc Seitz accused Corgi of copying software features in its new Dataroom product. Corgi denied using any code from Papermark and said it has updated the visual elements.
TechcrunchPapermark co-founder Marc Seitz posted side-by-side screenshots on X comparing wording in Corgi’s Dataroom product with Papermark’s open source data room software. Seitz described the overlap as copyright and license infringement and called it fraud.
Corgi co-founder and CEO Nico Laqua replied on X that the company did not use any code from Papermark and that the code in the two products is different. Laqua stated that “vibe-coding design” produced similar features and that Corgi “should have leaned more into our own language and visual choices instead of taking cues from existing products.”
A Corgi spokesperson told TechCrunch that the matching elements were limited to visual components on two peripheral settings pages. The spokesperson said those elements were updated immediately and confirmed that no code from Papermark was used. Corgi sent Seitz a cease-and-desist letter demanding removal of the post.
Corgi, a two-year-old Y Combinator-backed insurance technology company, raised a $106 million Series B1 last month at a $2.6 billion valuation after a prior $160 million Series B.
