nypost.comPaul Pelosi was charged Friday with one count of misdemeanor hit-and-run and one infraction for making an unlawful turn in connection with a July 3 collision in Yountville, California. The 86-year-old struck a legally parked, unoccupied vehicle while driving a brown convertible, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.
The parked car sustained major damage, but no injuries were reported and tests showed no alcohol in Pelosi’s system.
Pelosi briefly stopped after the collision before driving away. Prosecutors in Napa County filed the charges on July 17. A spokesperson for the Pelosi family said Pelosi apologized to the owner of the damaged vehicle and would assume responsibility for the repairs.
Pelosi is scheduled to appear in court on August 14. No attorney was listed in court records as of Friday. The misdemeanor charge carries a maximum penalty of a $1,000 fine or six months in county jail, or both.
Pelosi pleaded guilty in 2022 to misdemeanor DUI charges in Napa County and was sentenced to five days in jail, of which he served two days with good-conduct credit for the remaining time. He also completed three years of probation that included fines, a drinking-driver class and installation of an ignition interlock device.
Public records show traffic infractions for Pelosi in California dating back at least to 2011.
