Peabo Bryson, the R&B singer whose voice defined the title tracks of the Disney films Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, died Tuesday evening at age 75. Bryson died surrounded by family and loved ones, according to a statement from his family. He had suffered a stroke over the weekend and had been receiving medical care.

A cause of death has not been released publicly. Bryson won Grammy Awards in 1992 and 1993 for the duets "Beauty and the Beast" with Celine Dion and "A Whole New World" with Regina Belle. " "For more than five decades, Peabo's extraordinary voice served as the soundtrack to some of life's most cherished moments," his family said.

" "While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing how deeply Peabo was loved and how many lives were touched by his voice and his generous spirit," the statement continued. " Bryson performed in a concert with Jeffrey Osborne in Georgia in May. He had been scheduled to perform several shows on his Golden Touch tour later in 2026, marking five decades in the music industry.

In April he celebrated his 75th birthday and posted photos of the gathering with family and friends on social media.
