Phil Mickelson's Attorney Says Video Refutes Sexual Misconduct Allegation

Phil Mickelson's attorney said video evidence refutes an allegation that the golfer made inappropriate physical contact with a female employee at Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe earlier this year. The employee reported the alleged contact to supervisors after rejecting the advance, according to Golf Digest. Mickelson was removed from the club grounds and his membership was revoked.

Mickelson, 55, retained defamation attorney Tom Clare. "There is a great deal of misinformation circulating and, while Phil's full attention is devoted to a private family health matter, he has retained defamation counsel and is determined to hold accountable any publication or individual trafficking in speculation or false rumors," Clare said in a statement.

Club told Golf Digest it conducted a thorough investigation before confronting Mickelson and stands by its decision to revoke his membership. Mickelson, a San Diego native, had played at the club frequently and used it to prepare for major championships.

He stepped away from professional golf earlier this year for family health reasons. His last competitive appearance was at LIV Golf South Africa in March.
