Pirates place first baseman on 10-day injured list with hamstring strain
The Pittsburgh Pirates placed their first baseman on the 10-day injured list Thursday after he suffered a left hamstring strain. The player was injured during Wednesday night's game against the Seattle Mariners.

The player felt a grabbing sensation in his leg while grounding into a double play in the third inning of an 11-1 win over the Seattle Mariners. He was removed for a pinch-hitter an inning later. In 74 games this season, the first baseman is hitting .280 with 10 home runs and 33 RBIs.
Roster adjustment The team recalled an infielder from Double-A Altoona.
The 25-year-old infielder has yet to appear in the major leagues after being selected in the third round of the 2012 draft from Notre Dame. The Pirates and Mariners were scheduled to complete a three-game series on Thursday.
