Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary released bodycam footage showing officers approaching an 18-year-old man who had been stabbed five times with a 21-centimeter knife. The video recorded the man telling officers he had been stabbed and could not breathe while lying on a driveway in Southampton.

One officer replied that the man had not been stabbed. Officers then placed the man in handcuffs behind his back. A 23-year-old man later convicted of the stabbing repeated a claim that the victim had made a racial remark.

Farage stated that the footage showed discrimination and said police appeared more concerned about an accusation of racism than the stabbing itself. Farage had previously called on the constabulary to release the recording.

The constabulary said it had been misled by the claim of a racial remark. It has apologized for its handling of the incident and confirmed that the Independent Office for Police Conduct is investigating. Hampshire's Police and Crime Commissioner said she will request a national review of laws allowing certain bladed articles under religious exemptions.

The Prime Minister issued a statement describing the case as shocking and noting that the victim's family endured false claims during the trial.
