Police Respond to Swatting Call at Justice Amy Coney Barrett Home
Fairfax County police received a false report of gunshots at the Virginia residence of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett on Wednesday night. Officers determined the call was fictitious after coordinating with Supreme Court security personnel.
Fox NewsFairfax County police responded to a reported swatting incident at the home of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett in Falls Church, Virginia, on Wednesday evening. m. ET. A dispatcher told officers a caller claiming to be a neighbor reported hearing gunshots at the address.
Officers immediately coordinated with Supreme Court Police personnel assigned to the residence and determined the report was fictitious, Fairfax County police said in a statement Thursday. No additional police resources were used. A recording of the police dispatch obtained by NBC Washington shows the dispatcher noted the address had 24-hour security coverage for a high-priority resident of the county.
Barrett and her family have been targets of threats in the past. In March 2025 her sister Amanda Coney Williams received a bomb threat at her home in Charleston, South Carolina. Other justices have also faced threats. A woman was sentenced in October to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to attempting to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh near his Maryland home in 2022.
