A Pew Research Center poll released last month found that 9 percent of Americans said it would be acceptable to name government buildings after the sitting president during the current term. The survey placed that share below the percentage of respondents who said they believe the Apollo 11 moon landing was faked.

Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., was altered in December 2025 after the center's board of trustees made the change. A federal judge later ordered the name removed within two weeks and temporarily blocked planned renovations that would close the facility for two years. The Kennedy Center has indicated it will appeal the ruling.

A separate Quinnipiac University poll released last month found that 68 percent of voters believe the president is not focused enough on everyday issues such as gas and grocery costs, while 29 percent said the president is focused on those issues. The president has discussed several Washington projects, including a planned ballroom at the White House and a mixed-martial-arts event on the South Lawn scheduled for mid-June.
