The survey showed 49 percent of respondents now report using chatbots at least occasionally. That figure marks an increase from 33 percent in 2024.
Adults ages 18 to 29 reported the highest usage rate at 66 percent. Within that group, 34 percent of adults ages 30 to 49 said they use chatbots once a day or more. Roughly four in ten Americans said they have used AI tools for work tasks. Thirty percent of respondents said AI makes them more productive, while 28 percent said it helps them stay informed.
16 percent of Americans overall said AI will have a positive impact on society. Among younger adults, 48 percent said AI will have a negative impact, compared with 14 percent who said it will have a positive impact. The poll also referenced earlier Pew data showing 66 percent of U.S. adults expressed concern about AI spreading inaccurate information.
