Polls Show Rising Disapproval of Trump Among White Non-College Voters
A CBS News-YouGov poll in May found 54 percent of white non-college voters disapproved of President Trump's job performance, up from 32 percent in February 2025. Similar surveys from NPR/PBS/Marist, Fox News, and Reuters/Ipsos recorded disapproval rates between 48 and 51 percent among rural and white working-class respondents.

Recent polls indicate growing disapproval of President Trump's performance among white non-college and rural voters. A CBS News-YouGov survey in May recorded 54 percent disapproval, compared with 32 percent in February 2025. A June NPR/PBS/Marist poll showed 49 percent disapproval, while an April Fox News poll found 51 percent.
Among rural voters, a June Reuters/Ipsos poll reported 48 percent disapproval, up from 34 percent shortly after Trump took office.
Voters interviewed by USA Today linked the shift to higher prices for gas, food, and health insurance. Ashton Reed, 22, of Jackson, Missouri, said he voted for Trump in 2024 over economic promises but has since been laid off from an HVAC job and found Affordable Care Act coverage too costly after pandemic-era subsidies expired.
Denver Feltner, 38, of Hazard, Kentucky, reported his family's grocery bills rising and health-insurance premiums increasing fourfold, leaving him uninsured for months.
Farmers in rural Minnesota described additional strains from 2025 tariff disputes that halted soybean sales to China. Bob Worth, who farms 1,700 acres in Lincoln County, said China later agreed to purchase a set volume of U.S. soybeans through 2028, but low crop prices and elevated fuel and fertilizer costs tied to the Iran conflict continue to pressure margins.
